Stowe Mountains
Mount Mansfield is the highest peak in Vermont, standing at 4, 393 feet. From the summit, views of the Green Mountain range, Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains of New York, and the White Mountains of New Hampshire are all provided. A number of hiking trails are on Mount Mansfield.
Chiseled into a cleft on the side of Mt. Mansfield, Smugglers' Notch is a mountain pass situated on Route 108 (also called the Smugglers' Notch Scenic Byway) between the towns of Jeffersonville and Stowe. The Notch threads through the Green Mountains at an elevation of 2,162 ft (659 m) and is a popular destination in summer and fall but is closed in winter due to heavy snowfall.
